Razia takes GP2 pole in Hungary

Luiz Razia edged Luca Filippi to take pole position for the first GP2 race of the weekend at the Hungaroring - a first for both Razia and his AirAsia team. The Brazilian was in contention for the lead places throughout the session, and he finally moved into top spot with three minutes remaining. Filippi (Coloni), who held top spot for more than 10 minutes before that, appeared on course to respond when he set the best time in the first sector on his final flying lap.

The final week in the Thrustmaster Mustang Challenge had the sim racers take on the 17-turn, 3.194-mile monster of a circuit known as Silverstone, located deep in the heart of Northamptonshire.  During the week a total of 428 drivers attempted to be number one for the week, but after all was said and done, it was Teemu Lappalainen (Finland) who snuck away from the field and scored the most points for Week Twelve. Weekly High Strength of Field As previously mentioned, Lappalainen made away with the most points during the week by scoring the victory in the week’s highest Strength of Field (SoF) event.  The 2641 SoF race saw Lappalainen lead just four laps and pull-out to a 2.964s margin of victory over second place man Ken Leach (New York).  [...]

Giovanardi signs up for Surfers

Multiple touring car champion Fabrizio Giovanardi will return to the Surfers Paradise V8 Supercar event for a second year. The 44-year-old Italian will again drive for Brad Jones Racing, alongside either Jason Bargwanna or Karl Reindler. Giovanardi was paired with the latter last year, and took a ninth-place finish in the first leg of the meeting, which sees the V8 regulars joined by international guest drivers.

Huff and Menu to race in Buenos Aires

WTCC leader Rob Huff and his Chevrolet team-mate Alain Menu will race in the Buenos Aires TC2000 event on August 21. Huff and Menu will compete using the Cruzes of the official TC2000 Chevrolet team at the 200km event, which sees regular contenders in the Argentinean touring car championship share with a second driver. Both drivers have competed in the event previously, with Menu even winning in 2006 alongside Matias Rossi
