Rockenfeller on pole at Brands

Mike Rockenfeller claimed his maiden DTM pole position on a scorching hot afternoon at Brands Hatch. The Abt Audi driver, who only returned to the series two races ago after his terrifying Le Mans crash, was the fastest driver in the one-lap, Q4 shoot-out to take the top spot at the 48th time of trying. After going third quickest in Q3, Rockenfeller was the second driver to attempt his Q4 lap, and knocked the HWA Mercedes of Gary Paffett off pole by 0.198 seconds with a lap of 42.090s.

Fantin wins after Nasr penalised

Pietro Fantin claimed his maiden British Formula 3 win in the first race at Rockingham, after officials slapped championship leader Felipe Nasr with a drive through penalty. Carlin driver Nasr passed poleman Fantin's Hitech car through the banked first turn after the start and led the opening 14 laps of the race, but a penalty for not respecting the track limits dropped him down the order. Fantin closed out the final eight laps to take his first win in the category, leading home Carlin trio Rupert Svendsen-Cook, Jack Harvey and Jazeman Jaafar.

Stoner blazes to Misano pole

Casey Stoner blazed to his eighth pole of the season with a new qualifying record at Misano. As has been the case all weekend, Yamaha's Jorge Lorenzo looked the only driver capable of truly challenging Stoner. The pair had traded fastest laps as the session developed, before Stoner made his move with 15 minutes to go - setting a 1m33.495s and then immediately bettering that with a 33.138.

Frankfurt: Citroën Tubik Concept is the automotive space shuttle of tomorrow

Citroen Tubik Concept

Citroen Tubik interiorAccording to Citroën, the Tubik is "a concept car designed to make travel meaningful again." We're not entirely sure what that means, but we're happy to see the ethos wrapped up in a package that reminds us of the old Volkswagen Transporter.

As you can tell from the highly stylized set of images and renderings that the quirky French automaker has released of its new concept, the Tubik is intended to be a wholly modern take on the one-box MPV shape. Note too the asymmetrical entry portals. We can't quite tell what's going on with the driver's seat (really more like a perch...), but it's kind of like a cocoon with all kinds of ethereal lighting surrounding it.

The rest of the interior is a bit more subdued, but only just. There are a slew of configurations for the passenger compartment along with a somewhat disarming lack of windows. We'd guess the driver gets a view of the outside world through cameras and LCD screens.

Citroën used phrases like "shared, intelligent, connected and eco-friendly" to describe the Tubik Concept, but stops well short of telling us any meaningful details on what any of that entails. In any case, stay tuned for more about this far-out concept at the upcoming Frankfurt Motor Show and feel free to check out the brief press release after the break.
